Kustom Village and VW Meeting

The Kustom Village and VW Meeting, covering a total of more than 4,000 m2, will be one of the unmissable highlights of STS 2011.

The STS Organising Committee, and specifically Stefan Degiacomi, who is responsible for the Kustom Village, want to say a big THANK YOU right now to Thierry Dormoy and VW Spirit. Without their help and enthusiasm this part of the programme would never have happened.

It will be made up of two sections, firstly the meeting for American cars and VW’s (this can only happen with your participation, so be there!) and then an exhibition area offering some sensational attractions:

From alpha to omega!

Just to remind you: omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet and looks a bit like a capital “O”. A selection of the most beautiful and most outlandish modifications will be on display in the Kustom Village grouped in the shape of an omega. Some 30 vehicles from all over Europe will be on show for your delectation: VW’s and water-cooled Beetles, naked hot rods from the 1930’s, muscle cars originating in 1970’s USA with powerful motors and big bodies and, of course, the display wouldn’t be complete without the custom cars from the Forties and Fifties, with mods conjuring up the spirit of … rock’n’roll.

The omega shape will open up on to a stage, where a DJ will be playing all day, before freeing it up on Saturday evening for a concert by Hillbilly Moon Explosion.

So you want to know about pinstriping?

Before flying off to Quebec, Thierry Kasal is taking time out to pinstripe a whole car for us over the weekend (a VW Type 3 estate from the 1970’s), as well as the Kustom Village TOPs trophies and – if you want – parts of your car, motorbike, helmet, etc. ….. Come and watch Thierry at the work he loves. It’s cool to see him apply his brush with such a steady hand.

The smell of leather

Two saddlers will be displaying their craft and will surprise you with their creations:
Philippe Grisel with a newly restored VW Buggy that has been given a luxury leather interior (www.styleinside.ch) and Styl’sellerie Mudry with a Dodge RAM whose bodywork has been entirely coated with faux leather (www.stylsellerie.fr).

No cash, no licence? Buy a bike – it’s good for your health.

Kustom works for bikes as well. Frank Sauthier has set up Custom Bicycles (BCBC) in Chêne-Bourg and will go “to infinity and beyond” to personalise a two-wheeler. As cool as a motor, far cheaper than a Harley Davidson and s-o-o-o much more sporty!

Say cheese!

Immortalise your car with a professional photo. Sebastien Staub will show your pride and joy to its best advantage in his studio in Hall 4. A choice of backgrounds, old petrol pumps, palm trees, your mates, your sweetheart, a pin-up idol or a racing driver … the choice is yours!

Lacquer, leather and lots of naked flesh!

The Fuel Girls will pump up the heart-rates of the men in the audience with their new, high-flying, dance and stunt show. The hostesses of the Moa Club are just as sexy and will also be happy to have their photos taken with visitors and participants at the meeting. Skin like velvet and hot curves are the winning assets of our pin-up, who will be starting the runs. Gentlemen, you will be all eyes!
